[regal]

Viaggio da Venetia a Constantinopoli, Rosaccio G., 1660 Rosaccio, Giuseppe (1530-1603), Viaggio da Venetia, a Costantinopoli Per Marre e per Terra, et insieme quello di Terra Santa.Ohne Drucktext in der Ausgabe von M. Sadeler bei S. Scolari. Venedig, um 1660. Qu.-4to (18,5:29 cm). Gest. Titel mit ornament. Bordüre u. 73 gest. Karten, Pläne u. Ansichten. Hprgt. des 19. Jh. mit Rsch.; berieben u. bestoßen, Rücken stark braunfleckig. Shirley T.ROS-3b. This is the rare edition of the Viaggio by Rosaccio, first published by Marco Sadeler around 1610, and here in the ed. without text some 50 years later by Scolari. Most of the plates are identical to the ones in the ed. of 1598 or 1606, but lacking - according to the listing by Shirley - no. 17 and 20. Of the newly added 3 maps by Sadeler to his own ed., the 2 of Hungary and the Eastern Mediterranean are not inserted, just the third one of the "Arcipelagus". Instead Scolari added another old map from his archive: the scarce map of Europe with parts of Africa and the Near East from D. Zenoi by G. F. Camocio, the date of 1568 here erased. - Mainly good impressions, some with visible small cracks to the plates. Only minor spotting in places to images, somewhat stronger to margins. Brownish soiling at lower gutter throughout. Title and last 6 leaves loose; title with loss of upper right corner. With exlibris and ownershp inscription to front papers. Half vellum of the 19th cent., somewhat worn and brown spots to spine.
